Shoe Review: Saucony Liberty ISO

Received my pair of Saucony Liberty ISO early this month. The shoes looks aggressive and fast, even before I put it on. With the tagline 'Every day can be your independence day', the shoes comes with a full-length EVERUN midsole, Saucony's cushioning support technology that gives increased energy return and underfoot comfort throughout runs. The blue/white/black color for Malaysian market (men) is an eye-catching color although I still envy the ViZi red/black option for women.

Liberty is of the same range with Saucony Freedom except that the former is in the 'stability running shoes family' that provides extra support to help control pronation.

For my first run with the shoes, Liberty ISO surprised me as they feel so natural, blending in with the feet in no time, as soon as I put it on and walked out from parking to the park, and they're ready for a quick spin. I guess, with Liberty ISO, break-in process of new shoes is now a myth. I simply in love with the #EVERUN cushion technology on this shoes, that is not too little (like a racer) and not too plushy. It absorbed the landing impact so comfortably but not too sluggishly to propel the foot for the next stride. I guess it will be a nice shoes for my 10km and half marathon distance, but did not overrule running my full marathon races with it.

Done with baby mileage with the shoes, it was time to take it for my full marathon race last weekend in Pattani Marathon in Southern Thailand. As expected, the shoes was aggressive, lightweight and fast. This is not a common thing for a stability shoes which normally would be too plush (with cushion) and sluggish for a fast race. I am happy to say that I ran one of my best full marathon races with Liberty ISO and the shoes is definitely my choice of racing shoes, apart from the Kinvara for a more relaxed runs/races.

  1. I just bought my first pair of Saucony running shoes thanks to this review (Johan Effendi brought me here!) - I hope the running experience will be good for me, too! Thank you :)
